Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004)
(May 6, 1918 — November 2, 2004)
Grand Master, Visionary, Founder of the United Arab Emirates,
was president of the union of emirates for over 30 years (1971 – 2004).
In October 1968, Zayed took control of Abu Dhabi,
which today is the capital and has the headquarters of the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates,
which was beginning to lift itself out of poverty thanks to the discovery of oil in the territory and his vision of sustainability.
Sheikh Zayed created the formal government structure and started a program to build houses, schools, health services,
as well as ordering the construction of an airport, a seaport, roads,
and a bridge between the island of Abu Dhabi and the mainland.
Aware that to develop and create the United Arab Emirates,
needs unite with the neighbours, Sheikh Zayed began negotiations for the creation of a common country,
officially created in December 1971, and Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan,
became, the 1st President of the United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with a spirit of union, determination, and vision,
made the desert a power, of success and prosperity, a nation of peace and humanitarian.
Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan passed away on November 2, 2004, on that date,
the UAE had already become a prosperous country with a high Human Development index.
